Flight Safety Manager
Flight Safety Manager vacancy based in Mali at an air service operator on contract. The role is urgent so only candidates that are available immediately will be considered.
Minimum Requirements
- Hold or have held a commercial pilot’s licence with minimum 500 flying hours;
- Have successfully completed an approved safety management course; and
- Have 2 years proven experience in aviation safety
OR
- Hold or have held an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s (AME) licence with at least 5 years experience in an approved Aircraft Maintenance Organisation;
- Have successfully completed an approved safety management course; and
- Have 2 years proven experience in aviation safety or aviation quality assurance
OR
- Hold a tertiary training certificate from a reputable institution in the field of aviation management; and
- Have successfully completed an approved safety management course; and
- Have 5 years of experience in the management of a complex operation
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the company’s air service operates in a safe and reliable manner
- Ensure that the company complies with the provisions of the Aeronautical Regulations of Mali (RAM) and RC-OPS 1, as amended
- Ensure that the provisions of the company’s Operations Manual are fully complied with in respect of the Aeronautical Regulations of Mali (RAM 04 and RAM 05) and RC-OPS 1, as amended
- Ensure that all personnel have the appropriate knowledge, qualifications, skills, experience and training to perform or supervise their assigned duties in respect of civil aviation safety
- Review, in conjunction with the Flight Operations Manager, the Operations Manual and Safety Management Manual as and when required
- Identify, record and report any safety problems
- Execute in conjunction with the relevant responsible person, audits of the procedures detailed in the Operations Manual and Safety Management Manual
- Ensure that all or any accidents, incidents, occurrences and/or hazards which might be related to flight safety are reported by to him/her and that the Accident / Incident /Occurrence / Hazard Report Form as required in terms of the Safety Management Manual is filled out correctly and is complete and that all the required information has been furnished in the said form
- Implementation and maintenance of the company’s Indicate Aviation Safety Program
- Conduct regular safety audits on the flight safety
- Stop or prohibit any action or operation which could jeopardize aviation safety and;
- Stop or prohibit any action that is unsafe or unreliable
Additional responsibilities assigned to this post:
- Conduct all aviation safety matters allocated to him/her in a professional manner;
- Report any irregularities and/or shortcomings to the Director General/Accountable Manager;
- Maintain competency;
- Remain abreast of new developments regarding aviation safety, both locally and internationally;
- Co-ordination of the company’s Indicate Aviation Safety Program;
- Co-operation with the relevant sections within the company regarding all safety matters;
- Co-operation with the training section with regards to safety training of flight, flight and ground crews as applicable;
- Supervision of aircraft handling regarding matters related to safety in co-operation with ground support services;
- The investigation of incidents and accidents involving company’s aircraft, equipment and property (including fire and emergency procedures);
- Co-ordination with security personnel to ensure all aspects of security regarding the company’s aircraft;
- Comply with the standards relating to the conveyance of dangerous goods as prescribed in RAM 19;
- To conduct surveys as a means of identifying risk areas; and
- To establish an Emergency Response Plan (ERP) should an accident occur which includes the actions to be followed by relevant personnel;
- Promulgation of Company Information and Safety Bulletin;
- Conducting meetings with all relevant personnel regarding safety matters;
- Maintenance of safety equipment;
- Perform safety audits and Occupational health and safety
