A helicopter operator and Aircraft Maintenance Organisation in Midrand is looking for a Responsible Person Aircraft – RPA to join their team as soon as possible.


  • Ensure that all aircraft operated by the company are maintained and in an airworthy condition
  • Ensure that the AOC Holder operates in a safe and reliable manner with regards to aircraft maintenance and engineering
  • Ensure that all inspections, repairs and component changes are accomplished in accordance with the manufacturer’s approved procedures and the approved Aircraft Maintenance Programme
  • Ensure that all work performed by the AMO on aircraft, aircraft components, aircraft engines, engine components and other items or equipment are completed in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturers’ handbooks, manuals and the Approved Maintenance Programme
  • Ensure compliance with maintenance procedures, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, service letters and the regulations
  • Ensure that all maintenance engineers are trained and current on the types of aircraft
  • Ensure that all maintenance personnel have the appropriate knowledge, qualifications, skills and experience to perform or supervise their assigned duties
  • Ensure that all maintenance engineers are certified and supervised according to the requirements as specified in the regulations
  • Ensure that all maintenance personnel are compliant with the relevant manuals and related SACAA regulations
  • Responsible for the amendment of the Maintenance Control Manual, AMP’s and MEL’s
  • Co-Ordinate with 3rd party maintenance contractors when any maintenance is being performed on any of the helicopters
  • Provide the Operations Manager with the current Airworthiness Status of the helicopters and the forecasted downtime to facilitate the maintenance and operations scheduling
  • Determine and Coordinate aircraft maintenance scheduling with maintenance personnel and assigned AMO’s
  • Maintain a close relationship with the manufacture’s representative, parts, repair facilities and the SACAA
  • Provide the maintenance personnel with the necessary overhaul manuals, service bulletins, service letters, airworthiness directives, applicable sections of the MCM, AMP, MEL or any other required technical data
  • Maintain all necessary work records and logbooks
  • Ensure that all maintenance records and mass and balance records for all aircraft are properly maintained by the responsible AMO
  • Complete all the required reports that needs to be forwarded to the SACAA
  • Oversee the general aircraft condition on a day-to-day basis to ensure that the aircraft is maintained in an airworthy and clean condition at all times and maintains all necessary work records, logbooks, including certification in the aircraft permanent maintenance records that the aircraft is approved for return to service
  • Serve as permanent member on the SQAM committee
  • Liaise with aircraft manufacturers’ representatives, suppliers, repair facilities and the SACAA
  • Overall HR management and control of the CAMO department and the Hangar Staff

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a South African resident
  • Hold an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license or;
  • have a Pilot license and ratings appropriate to the aircraft being operated or;
  • Engineering Degree in Aeronautics, Electrical, Mechanical or Avionics
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the Aviation Industry
  • Have at least two years’ experience in a management position within aviation, or at least as a Quality Assurance Manager within the aviation domain
  • Experience in working directly with the SACAA for at least two years
  • Must be approved by the Licensing Council
  • Fully Computer Literate (MS Office)
  • Extensive knowledge of maintenance schedules and engineering
  • Conversant with the South African Civil Aviation regulations and Technical Standards
