Senior Base Engineer
An Aircraft Maintenance Organisation, based in Port Moresby is looking for an experienced Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to fill a role as Senior Base Manager in the company.
Duties:
- Ensure the working environment is upheld as required by the company policies, procedures, and industry standards
- Ensure that licenses, ratings, and authorizations are always upheld and current and to notify the company immediately if there are any concern regarding the validity
- Ensure that tools, equipment, and materials are used for intended tasks and to report any damage, F.O.D. or shortages timeously
- Daily tool checks will be conducted by the Senior Base Engineer and any missing or misplaced tools are to be reported immediately to the Quality Assurance Manager, or the Engineering Manager – Should tools be misplaced, Refer to P145/15 MOE 2.6.4 for this procedure
- To ensure that maintenance activities are conducted by making use of correct tooling, equipment, and certified parts only
- Notifying the Engineering Manager whenever deficiencies emerge which require his attention in respect of maintenance standards or any safety concerns regarding the operational readiness of the aircraft
- The day-to-day maintenance activities should be conducted to the best practices making use of the valid and current technical publications
- Ensure that maintenance personnel are utilised on maintenance activities by providing instruction and required guidance
- Accept direction and guidance from the Engineering Manager by ensuring that the P145 maintenance organisation is always conducting appropriate aircraft maintenance activities
- Be an active member of the safety culture of the organisation and be driven to promoting safety awareness
- Participating in identifying safety concerns and reporting such concerns to the Engineering Manager or Quality Assurance Manager
- Ensuring that you report for duty on time and are well rested to conduct the maintenance activities
- Keep abreast of industry standards and report to the Engineering Manager should he require additional training or guidance to perform the required maintenance activities – Best industry practices will be enforced with the maintenance personnel by continuous compliance encouragement
- Responsible for ensuring that all maintenance is correctly certified and that records of completed work are correctly certified and complete prior to release to service of the Aircraft
- Senior Base Engineer will conduct quality inspections on completed Work Plan to identify any shortcoming and action immediately
- Discuss any shortcomings with the Engineering Manager in ensuring that non-complying individuals could receive coaching or guidance
- Ensure that the completion and certification of all work carried out are satisfactory and in accordance with the work specification on the day of completion
- Ensuring that the organisation’s procedures and standards are complied with when carrying out maintenance
- Ensuring that the quality and workmanship in the final product is to a standard acceptable to the organisation and the authorities of Papua New Guinea
- Daily Time Cards will be compiled and reviewed for on-forwarding to the Engineering Manager for any maintenance activities carried out in the workplace
- The Senior Base Engineer will be an active participant in housekeeping and assign other general tasks in and around the hanger
- Ensure that all Aircraft Tech Log maintenance deficiencies are appropriately addressed prior to expiry and certified for correctly
- Responsible to co-ordinate the Duty Engineer roster and ensure that maintenance personnel are aware of their duty rostering
- Co-ordinate overtime where required and seek Engineering Manager approval prior to personnel conducting overtime
- Assess Work Plans in advance to ensure the required parts, tooling and special services are in place prior to any scheduled maintenance event
- Raise any Work Plan related concerns with the Engineering Manager to address with the P119 department ensuring a streamlined operation
- Assist with limited Engineering Manager functions in the absence of the Engineering Manager
Minimum Requirements
- South African or Australian Citizen
- Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (B1 or B2 – Category A&C or X&W)
- Preferred aircraft and engine type ratings:
- Beechcraft King Air 200
- De Havilland DHC-6-300/400 Twin Otter
- Cessna Citation CJ3 525B
- Cessna 208B Caravan
- P&W PT-6A
- Williams FJ33
- At least 10 years experience as a licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
