The South African subsidiary of a world market leader in the helicopter industry, is recruiting for an AS-350 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.

Main Responsibilities for AS-350 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer role:

The following can be supplied as guidelines that need to be addressed as AS-350 Aircraft Maintenance
Engineer at Airbus Helicopters:

  • Ensure a high quality and standard of maintenance/assembly work
  • Ensure that all aircraft/component maintenance is carried out in accordance with
    the latest revisions of the following:
    i. OEM documentation
    ii. AHZA Manual of Procedure
    iii. AHZA Quality Manual of Procedures as required maintaining ISO 9002
    standards
    iv. SACAA CAR/CATS Aviation Legislation.
  • Prior to fitment or use of any spares/consumables check:
    i. Paperwork attached is applicable for spare used.
    ii. For obvious damage.
    iii. Items that are subject to an expiry date are valid
  • Ensure that a safety attitude is at all times adopted and also observing the actions of other members that might have a negative influence on safety and quality
  • Ensure incident reports are raised and submitted to the safety officer or raised on the Quality & Safety Management System within same working day
  • Ensure that no maintenance/repair is carried out that has not been released or approved by the customer or commercial department
  • Ensure work-pack has:
  • i. been filled in progressively and neatly
  • ii. Accurately completed paperwork and is in order
  • iii. Accurate signed off maintenance tasks with a dual signature where applicable
  • iv. Accurate record of spares used, replaced or repaired with its relevant documentation
  • v. Documentation received with spares securely filed and in order with the work-pack
  • vi. Accurate and detailed record of defects and their rectification, including reference to documentation used to perform rectification and calibrated tools used
  • vii. Accurate record of man hours worked as well as accurate clocking of actual worked time on the electronic job card system
  • Ensure, where applicable, duplicate inspections are performed and certified
  • Regular follow-up with stores and planning departments with respect to the status of outstanding spares
  • Regular discussions with MRO & Completions Manager with respect to progress on maintenance activity, also indicating potential problematic situations timeously
  • Tag as unserviceable any equipment and/or tools that are found to be unserviceable and report to the Chief Engineer accurate description of defect
  • Return tools to tool store at end of shift and sign them back in
  • Ensure only tooling within calibration valid date shall be used
  • Ensure personal toolbox :
  • 1. Is neat and tidy
  • 2. Contains an accurate listing of tools on an inventory list
  • 3. Daily sign off of tools accounted for as well check the Junior Technical Staff tools
  • 4. Tools are serviceable for use and be accounted for at all times, especially after completion of maintenance and before flight testing
  • 5. Tools are all permanently marked with the same ID
  • 6. As applicable, tools are within calibration date
  • Ensure that the area around the maintenance activity (Example helicopter) is clean and spilled fluids immediately cleaned
  • At end of the day the area must be tidied before leaving the facility by walking systematically through the bays , workshops and hangars to maintain the 5S system
  • All relevant maintenance documentation to be signed for at the Technical Publications Section and returned daily
  • Ensure neat and tidy storage and accurate labeling of any item removed from an aircraft. Ensure blanking off of piping, intakes, pitot tubes, static lines as well as doors and stabilizers
  • Ensure items packed for shipment are:
  • i. Securely packed
  • ii. Hazardous goods packages are clearly identified
  • iii. Where applicable, avionic components are caged
  • Ensure company policies are adhered to
  • Ensure personal time sheets are completed daily or the accurate use of the electronic job card system
  • Ensure transfer of knowledge to those who do not hold an AME license
  • Supervise the work of those who do not hold an AME license and lead by example
  • Ensure that your general behaviour and dress code complements the professional image of the company
  • Ensure license held is valid for the aircraft type being certified
  • Ensure license renewal is implemented at least 90 days prior to expiry date
  • Informing the Accountable Manager immediately of any changes to license held
  • Informing Accountable Manager immediately if stamp is lost or has been used fraudulently by another person
  • Ensure Record of experience logbook TV2/308 is complete, up to date and signed off by the Chief Engineer (not more than one month in arrears)

Finally it would be appropriate to state that as AS-350 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer of the Company you are to inform the MRO & Completions Manager of any irregularities noticed and assist management by having a positive influence on all other members within the department. A continuous attitude of being pro-active is encouraged and You are invited to participate with the planning and continuous improvement process of the department, subsequently ensuring the punctual delivery of airworthy helicopters on time, on cost, on quality as negotiated with the customer and thereby exceeds their expectations.

  • EC-130 licence will be an advantage

Experience

  • 5 years experience in aviation – helicopter specific experience
  • Experience on vibration analysis
