Responsibilities

  • Invite tenders, consult with suppliers and review quotations
  • Assess requirements of the company and develop specifications for equipment, materials and supplies to be purchased
  • Responsible for loading job specifications (direct order) on to SAP
  • On receipt of 3 quotes, a capex and/or request to purchase form must be completed for authorisation
  • Determine or negotiate contract terms and conditions, award supplier contracts upon approval by CFO or recommend contract awards
  • Purchase general and specialized equipment i.e tools, non-operational materials i.e stationery and consumables or business services for use or for further processing by the company
  • Establish delivery schedules, monitor progress and contact suppliers to resolve problems
  • Weekly report from SAP (SQ01) for all outstanding orders to follow up on status
  • Weekly report to be produced and handed to the CFO to monitor all activities including constraints experienced, identification of interim plan of action and poor service provided by specific vendors
  • Responsible for procedures as stated in the procurement policy
  • Responsible for compliance with the procurement policy as effective from time to time
  • Responsible for all procurement not done for purpose of direct re-sale ie includes consumables and services not re-sold to the customer
  • Responsible for assisting and contributing to annual BBBEE assessment audit process
  • Responsible for validating the need for procurement requests- investigate/analyze procurement requests in order to proactively detect potential for fraud
  • Responsible for conducting a bi-annual review/evaluation of suppliers – align with procurement policy

Experience

  • Degree or National Diploma in Business Administration/ Supply Chain/
    Logistics/Procurement would be an advantage
  • Min of 5 years’ experience in a full function procurement role including SAP MM
    procurement buying experience
